The business meeting of the Central Alabama Travelers
was called to order by President Banks Farris at 10:00 am, Saturday, June 21, 2008 at the Lakeside RV Park, Cropwell, AL. Officers present were Banks Farris, Don Baker, Sophie Baker, Elliott Eggleston. Cecil Long led the Pledge of Allegiance and in prayer.
Visitors were Tom Eller, V P of West Region of SE USA of FMCA organization and his wife
Lorna. Eller.
Banks Farris welcomes the visitors and thanked the hosts
for the planning and work of this Rally; Pam and Cecil Long, and the co-hosts
Nita and Eric Ott. Banks Farris recognized and introduced Tom Eller. Mr. Eller spoke to the members of CATS about the upcoming Friendship Rally on May 27th -30th,
2009. It will be held at the C&C Campground in Lincoln,
AL near the Talladega Nascar Raceway. Tentative
plans and invites to GA and FL were discussed. He would like to see participation
from our chapter for rally. He talked about plans and ideas to build up the FMCA
membership. He reminded us about the election of officers in Brooksville next
February, 2009.
The reading of the last meeting minutes were waived due
to the absence of our recording secretary, Kathy Smith. Nita Ott volunteered
to take the minutes of this meeting. Don Baker motioned to waive the reading
of the last meeting and it was 2nd and carried.
Sophie Baker gave the treasurer’s report. Beginning Balance was $2114.47, with disbursements and receipts reported, leaving
a final balance of $2252.45. Bill Cabiness motioned to accept and it was 2nd
and carried.
Sheriff Dan Gassett gave the Sheriff’s report. $2 was collected from members, not wearing their badges. Banks Farris reminded all members that badges are to be worn from Thursday night, after arriving and setting
up, to Saturday night, after all activities have been completed. The badges are
to be worn in such a way others can see the names. We are to wear the badges when we go out as a group.
Don Baker reminded all members to make reservations for
the August Rally in Cosby, TN. Discussion held to have the Wagon Masters work on the 2009 Rally schedule and locations. The locations should be closer to Central Alabama due to fuel increase over the
recent months. Banks Farris will contact the Wagon Masters.
Elliott Eggleston, National Director for FMCA, reported
to us just regular reports being received and nothing to report.
Tom Eller explained the MedEX emergency benefit and handed
out contact cards and pamphlets.
The chapter applauded Don Baker’s excellent work
and time spent on the Website.
No further business to be discussed, Don Gardiner motioned
to close the meeting and it was 2nd and carried.
